So I jumped the gun a bit saying I’d be able to do a full Oppo review on the G90 I had from work all weekend. I actually took that original post down so that I could have a chat with the team to see what our limitations are in terms of posting about the cars we get. Normally it wouldn’t be a problem, but in this case since the car was a pre-production model, they (understandably) don’t want some hack on Oppo being the first to write it up. So, I knows my place, and I’ll leave the PR to the PR team, when the time comes.
What I can do at the very least is answer a coupe of the questions I screen-captured before I took the original post down...
Ian: Don’t you worry about the brand. They aren’t selling them yet so you shouldn’t know much, if anything about them. Mine was an early pre-prod model. But when the time comes it’ll be a legit contender.
SaveTheIntegras: Hells yes I would. For the money this thing has no proper rivals really. I worked at Mercedes-Benz Head Office for 4 years and the Koreans have been doing their homework and taking great notes. Anybody who has the means and isn’t worried about impressing their neighbours with the badge on their car would be crazy not to cross-shop this with the best that’s out there currently. That’s my honest opinion.
BJ: It does seat 5! The middle rear controls are on the back of the middle seatback so they flip down. Outboard seats do all the fancy tricks you’d expect from there. Hopefully that sticks around for full production.
dj: Not a bad logo to be confused with. I think it looks damn good on these cars.
Bman76: Yes, they are glorious.
ForCanada: AWD and dry all weekend. So no. Probably donuts, but you’d want lots of room. It’s rather large.
MountainRoadPhysicist: Leather and palm.
Anyway that’s all I’m really comfortable divulging at this point but you can rest assured that when it’s officially released you can get the full story.
A few more pics just ‘cause I like you all so much.
FR-S for scale.
Obligatory Ikea run. Parking on the ground level is for plebes.
Sorry to get anyone’s hopes up who might have been looking forward to more details. But I’ll do what I can, when I can. Hope you like what you see though. It’s a damn sweet ride.

I must say, the G90 is a very handsome car. My only real gripe with the Equus was that from the outside it was a bit, outdated.

Haven’t actually driven an Equus but the G90 is lightyears ahead in terms of styling. I mean, to go from making their first ever car to the G90 in the time Hyundai has is unlike any other major manufacturer I can think of. It’s quite an organization and pretty exciting to be in on.

I’ve happened to come across two pre-production G90s at Cars and Coffee, one by accident. One was gray like the one you posted, but lacked G90 badging, and the wheels were curbed and the rear windshield was shattered. The second was white and featured EQ900 badges and a cracked front bumper.
I have to say, despite all the damage that was done to these cars, I think the G90 is quite a good looking car.
Did your car have the 3.3T V6?

It did, yes. I’m desperate to get some seat time in the 5.0 V8 though. I drove a 5.0 Genesis (sedan) R-Spec back in like 2010 or something and it was a great combo. Not to take anything away from the 3.3T. It was more than enough, even for a car that generously proportioned.
